The Lemon Tree is a book about friendship, trust, and diversity. An Israeli woman meets a Palestinian man at the house she grew up in, as it turns out they both lived in the house at different times while on different borders. The house is later made a school where children from both regions could study in memoriam of these two strangers who saw past their differences and formed a bond. A Lemon Tree was planted in the yard of the school to remind visitors that there is always something brighter than what we are given.
I used multi-media and collage to create this book cover. The collaged heart represents the forming of friendship and the plant growing out of it represents The Lemon Tree, and it is tied together with experimental typography to represent diversity and growth.
